On behalf of the Casablanca American School (CAS) in Morocco, Search Associates is pleased to announce that Mr. Rick Vanden Boom has been appointed as the new Upper School Principal at CAS beginning in August 2024. Rick exclaims:
I am elated about the opportunity to join the CAS community, with 50 years of academic excellence in the region and the longest-running International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Morocco. The systems, structures, and enthusiasm we will build collaboratively as a school community excites me as we plan for the next 50 years of excellence. I look forward to attacking each day at CAS with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind!
Currently in his sixth year as High School Principal at the American International School of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Mr. Vanden Boom has served as Principal in three schools in both Michigan and Arkansas, U.S. He shares the joy that his work brings:
My favorite memory as an educator has to be seeing the look on someone's face as a teacher or a student when they finally "get it. " No paycheck can substitute the joy that brings!
Rick holds a B.S. in Biology, Secondary Education (DA) from Western Michigan University; a M.Ed. Educational Administration from Montana State University; and a Certificate in Leadership and School Management from Harvard Business School.
Based on Rick’s extensive divisional leadership experience in both the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, the CAS Search Committee selected him from a strong pool of qualified candidates. In his announcement to the community, Director of CAS and Chair of the CAS Search Committee Mr. John Randolph said,
We are most fortunate to have a seasoned educator and administrator in Rick Vanden Boom joining our school to lead our Upper School division. We look forward to him becoming part of the CAS legacy.
